At The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf (CCCBSD), we provide transformative, person-centered education and services for Deaf and/or disabled individuals in a language-rich, inclusive setting. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled School Nurse (Registered Nurse – RN) to join our team for a parental leave coverage assignment. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, you will support the overall health, safety, and well-being of our school community while building strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
In this role, you will provide direct nursing care, manage health plans, respond to medical needs, and collaborate closely with educators and related service providers to ensure students are safe, supported, and able to fully access their educational experience.
This temporary role is full-time, runs from February 2, 2025 through August 13, 2026, and follows the school-year calendar. Each school year includes:
181-day school year, September–June, Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
23-day summer program, July–August, Monday–Thursday, 8:25 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
Participation in required trainings and school community events
Provide medically prescribed interventions, including medication administration in accordance with state regulations
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nursing care plans aligned with student health and educational needs
Administer first aid and provide care for acute illness, injuries, and communicable diseases
Manage feeding protocols, including tube feeding, and support private-duty nurses as needed
Train and consult with faculty and staff regarding student medical needs and care procedures
Respond to medical emergencies and promote positive safety practices throughout the school community
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and nursing documentation
Collaborate with school administrators, physicians, and community providers to establish and review health policies and procedures
Support infection control practices and communicable disease prevention in accordance with current guidelines
Attend field trips or designate appropriate nursing coverage when required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience directly related to school or pediatric health services
Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university
Three (3) or more years of school-based or pediatric nursing experience
